The Armstrong Siddeley Car Club

South Australia

About Us

The South Australian Branch was formed in 1963 by a passionate group of Armstrong Siddeley owners. Other than a brief hiatus in the late 1960’s it has always been an enthusiastic and active branch of the national club maintaining a strong focus on both technical support and social activities. We are a friendly group and are always keen to welcome new members.

Meetings

We hold informal meetings on the first Friday of every second month at 7.30pm.  These are held at the Shannon’s Insurance Office Club Room, 863-865 South Road, Clarence Gardens SA 5039. Some members get together before the meeting at a hotel close by and enjoy an inexpensive meal. The format of the meeting is very relaxed and our focus is on sharing technical information, especially restoration and maintenance tips.

Every meeting features a topic to assist AS owners. Recently these have included presentations on the following topics: Oils for use in Historic Cars; Batteries for Historic Vehicles, Paint and Panel restoration; 18hp Water Pumps; Ignition systems, Carburetors and “Getting you Home” tips if you are stranded on the side of the road!

Outings and Events

We offer many opportunities to take your Armstrong Siddeley out for a drive with other Siddeleys.  Outings are held regularly throughout the year and take a variety of forms including drives, picnics, lunches, garage crawls, swap meets and museum visits. Members often take part in the Bay to Birdwood, All British Day and other multi-make events. Many of our members also travel interstate to attend our Annual National Rally.

Annual Display Day

Our Display Day is the most important day on our calendar. It offers a chance to show our marque off to the public.   Everyone is welcome to peruse our rare vehicles, chat with owners and enjoy a picnic.

Resources

In addition to the National Spare Parts service in Canberra our branch holds some frequently required service items and some major components. We also have a comprehensive library, archive material and we maintain history sheets on local cars.  Many of our members have extensive knowledge and experience about all things Siddeley and are happy to share this with new owners.
